“The Village”

 artist statement

Diana Ferguson

The “Village” series is about a fun and imaginary community that is full of all types of personalities. It is a very special place because it honors life and the jouney we have on this planet.

My work is composed of abstarcted/stylized imagery that creates a small world of enigmatic moments. The images are full of chairs, ladders, spirit people, life orbs, all of which suggest a rejoicing in being alive. Relying on iconic shapes and a visual vocabulary developed over the years, I try to capture purity and an uplifting approach to life. Things do not have to make sense, they just have to make you smile.

Welcome to my world!
