The Etowah Arts Commission (EAC) announces its upcoming exhibit “EVERYTHING COUNTRY, paintings by Claudia Walker” from January 12 through March 31, 2017, in the Nancy Cantrell Dender Gallery, 700 Tennessee Avenue, Etowah, Tennessee.

Claudia Walker, of Sweetwater, Tennessee, feels that Tennessee has proven to be a source of great inspiration for her artwork. Her paintings reflect a love of the landscape, and the structures, people, and animals that inhabit the countryside. Old barns and equipment left to rot and rust beg to be preserved in Walker’s paintings, while the colors and movement of the mountains and fields continue to keep her engaged and excited about capturing the fleeting scenes.

Mostly self-taught in acrylics, oils, and watercolor, Walker has demonstrated a proficiency augmented with classes and workshops throughout the years. She has also taught tole and acrylic painting for 30 years. Her works has been exhibited in many venues, most recently in Nashville, Madisonville, Athens, and Sweetwater. She is an active member of the Community Artists League, centered in Athens, and is represented by The Gallery on Main in Sweetwater, Tennessee.

The public is invited to meet the artist at an opening reception on January 26, 2017, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served, and the event is free and open to the public.
